Based on the cynical satire "Candide" from the French writer Voltaire, directors Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi (well-known for the "shockumentaries" Mondo Cane and Africa Addio) have crafted a surrealist masterpiece. Often cruel and nihilistic in its approach, Mondo Candido tells of an innocent young man trying to retain his optimistic in a world full of brutality, war, slavery and death.
Featuring a beautiful score by Riz Ortolani.
